This is an opportunity to effect long term change by implementing business and ministry best-practice principals in the hospital to raise the standard of health care delivery in the region.
The Chief Medical Officer will develop, coordinate and oversee all medical staff activities at ECWA Hospital Egbe working in collaboration with the Director of Administration, administrative team, and missionary consultants. The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the supervision and training of doctors, residents, and medical students; participation in the development of patient care programs and standards for existing and new services; oversight of quality and performance improvement activities of the medical staff and hospital; participation in case management and utilization review activities; aid in physician/intern recruitment; and participation in the development of clinical documentation programs.
Director of Administration
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Director of Administration will be responsible for the functional decision making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the hospital’s mission; and be responsible for the hospital’s day-to-day operating and administrative activities. The Director of Administration will maintain an awareness of changes in healthcare matters that could have an impact on the success of the hospital, and work closely with the hospital accountant/bookkeeper in preparing accurate financials for presentation and audit. The Director of Administration will oversee the daily operations impacting administration, technology, evangelism, facilities management and financial development. As the primary public relations officer, the Director of Administration will represent the hospital in legal matters and ensure effective communication is occurring with government officials, the hospital, the community, ECWA and SIM (Serving in Missions) personnel. The Director of Administration will organize and facilitate recurring staff, board, and community meetings.
Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading the maintenance team, developing and implementing maintenance strategies, including equipment inventory, inspection and spare parts control plan to achieve full capacity and develop efficient operating standards for equipment and machines. This position will oversee the maintenance of the hospital’s vehicles, infrastructure and facilities. This position will need to set up a maintenance plan and related schedule to support hospital and housing infrastructure, including the efficient provision of water and electrical supply, road maintenance and drainage issues. The Maintenance Manager will also need to lead and motivate the maintenance team, set up the performance evaluation system, and train team members to use good strategies to solve challenges.
Missionary Consultant Positions
This is an exciting opportunity for seasoned professionals to be part of an equipping ministry team to enable leaders at ECWA Hospital Egbe to revitalize the hospital and develop high standards of health care delivery. It is part of SIM (Serving in Missions) holistic strategy to meet the health needs of the region and provide evangelistic outreach through the hospital. This mentoring ministry will also support other SIM consultant doctors and their families at Egbe. Consultancy term is 2 + years.
Chief Medical Officer/Family Doctor Consultant
This is an ideal position for a skilled Family Practice doctor to support the Chief Medical Officer in overseeing the Family Practice Residency Program and all medical staff activities of the hospital; utilizing best practices in developing patient care programs; providing education and instruction to residents; supporting quality and performance improvement activities for staff development and delivery of health care services; physician recruitment and training. The consultant would provide instruction and evaluation to residents, give guidance on improvement of health care delivery; provide physician care to several wards of inpatients/outpatients; and work in collaboration with nursing staff and physicians in the delivery of health care services. Candidates should possess demonstrated ability to provide physician leadership and training in a hospital setting; knowledge of medical staff organizations and structure, clinical effectiveness and performance improvement measures. Cross cultural experience in Africa is recommended.
Director of Administration Consultant
This consultant position is best suited for a skilled administrator from an institution background who can work alongside the hospital Director of Administration in management skills and best practices. The successful candidate would provide leadership and management training as opportunities arise for senior staff and consultant doctors at ECWA Hospital Egbe, give guidance on improvement of services for the hospital and upgrading of facilities; assist SIM doctors and other staff in matters affecting their work and life at Egbe. Some level of management training would be expected, but even more valuable would be experience in the corporate world or medical work in leading/managing an institution. Cross cultural experience in Africa is recommended.
Maintenance Manager Consultant
This is an ideal position for a skilled plant manager or general contractor who has a heart to train others in having a high standard for building and maintenance. This position would give advice to the Maintenance Manager; provide leadership and management training for the grounds, maintenance and building staff; give guidance on improvement of plant infrastructure and instill a maintenance mindset with proactive upkeep and scheduled maintenance. Candidates should have broad experience in the building trades, such as plumbing, construction, masonry, water systems and landscaping, be well versed in general mechanics (troubleshooting and repair of engines of all types, gasoline and diesel); have a good working knowledge of electrical generating plants and electrical wiring, installation and maintenance, and building repair. Cross cultural experience in Africa is recommended; five years or more practical work experience as mechanic, electrician, builder or related occupation.
An ideal position for a General Surgeon who can perform surgery alongside a team of missionary medical consultants and Nigerian physicians; coordinating surgery services, including planning, scheduling and determination of procedures; providing consultation and instruction in preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures; managing surgical patients. Perform general surgery for surgical candidates, prescribing preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures. This position would assist in managing surgery services, including planning, scheduling and determination of procedures; providing direction in procurement of supplies and equipment where appropriate; and provide consultation and surgical assistance to missionary medical consultants and Nigerian physicians and surgeons. Required training: general surgery certification; experience in surgical diagnosis, surgical procedures, and pre-and postoperative patient management in a variety of surgical areas; ability to provide instruction on operating room processes and surgical techniques; knowledge of medical staff organizations and structure, clinical effectiveness and performance improvement measures. Cross cultural experience in Africa recommended.
Head of Nursing Consultant
This is an opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide mentorship in overseeing the nursing activities of the hospital; develop and implement systems and procedures that promote excellent nursing care; empower staff toward performance improvement; model best practices and provide training in general nursing care and clinical assessment; facilitate the provision of accurate health care information and health improvement advice; promote effective communication with medical team, nursing and teaching staff of the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery. Successful candidate would provide leadership and training to nursing staff; give guidance on improving nursing care assessment and delivery for the hospital; assist SIM doctors and other staff in liaising with nursing and teaching staff of the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery. Required training: Senior Nurse practitioner with experience/specialty in ICU, ER, anesthesia, midwifery; demonstrated ability to provide nursing care leadership with experience in hospital/large clinic setting; knowledge of medical staff organizations and structure, clinical effectiveness and performance/process improvement measures. Cross cultural experience in Africa recommended.
