I was struck recently by a statement I read, “Now more than ever, I believe compassionate healthcare is one of the most effective tools to reach people with the Gospel.” Especially in the bush where there are no other options.
We have seen this statement ring true over and over at ECWA Hospital Egbe in rural Nigeria. It underscores why your partnership and investment is so important. Consider Kerima, a young teen girl who was bitten by a snake and hospitalized for several weeks. According to the doctors, she would have died without the intervention of trained staff and access to antivenom medicine. The hospital staff cared for her with compassion throughout her stay and offered the family hope. Before she was discharged, she was given a solar-powered talking Bible in her language to take home. It is a privilege to meet people at their greatest need in such a way that leaves a lasting impact!
Every year, ECWA Hospital Egbe has the opportunity to impact 20,000 lives through medicine and train five to six family medicine physicians to meet the ever-increasing health issues in the country. ECWA College of Nursing Sciences, located within the medical complex, graduates 100 nurses annually who serve throughout Nigeria and beyond.
Your generosity has been the cornerstone of our ability to train doctors and nurses, build new buildings, repurpose old buildings, purchase medical and construction equipment, and provide life-changing medical care.
