Missionary work is not just for teachers, preachers, doctors, and nurses. There is a huge need for those with experience in construction management. Construction missionary work is alive and well!
For nearly a century, the Western Church has been involved in construction missionary work all over the world, with the lion’s share taking place in Africa. Today, missionaries are still needed to assist in building projects throughout Africa but the focus has shifted from ‘doing the work with African labor helping’ , to ‘working alongside African skilled and semi-skilled workers’ and training them in new techniques and best practices.
This ensures continuity, builds capacity, encourages responsibility, and gives the local workforce skills they can use to help provide for their families. A win-win scenario for everyone.
