Facility Maintenance Missionary Work – Africa
Every year, hundreds of millions of dollars are donated through Christian ministries and other NGOs to build hospitals, schools, orphanages, etc all over the continent of Africa.
Unfortunately, maintenance of the buildings and equipment gets little attention. Aesthetics and functionality rapidly decline in the harsh conditions coupled with a lack of ongoing maintenance.
In most cases, facility maintenance in Africa is not a priority as those responsible are often faced with a choice of buying food and paying salaries OR doing maintenance when nothing is broken. Facility maintenance in Africa often consists of taking action when something breaks or stops working.
NGOs in Africa with a strong preventative facility maintenance program are rare. In addition, finding a national with strong preventative facility maintenance experience is not easy.
Therefore, there is a HUGE need for missionary facility maintenance managers in Africa to develop strong preventative maintenance programs while training and mentoring nationals.
