Partnerships with individuals and organisations have been critical to Egbe Medical Mission to maximise the best results, leverage resources, and find sustainable healthcare solutions. Equally as important, these partnerships are a HUGE encouragement to the team at ECWA Hospital Egbe, Nigeria and embody the principle of “joining hands” to accomplish a big vision.
To mention a few, “joining hands” has been highlighted at ECWA Hospital Egbe and ECWA College of Nursing Sciences with partners from the Dalton Foundation, Loma Linda University, Worldwide Biomed, Giving Tree Medical Charity, and Samaritan’s Purse/World Medical Mission. Whether in person, via Zoom, or WhatsApp, a common focus has been to develop biomed training further to ensure the hospital is equipped with the right medical equipment and there are procedures to maintain the equipment. Routine maintenance on medical equipment is extremely critical in harsh conditions like rural Egbe, where equipment cannot be easily purchased or replaced. Without properly functioning equipment, a hospital cannot serve its patients…and lives are at risk.
These critical partnerships have led to ongoing problem-solving between our Egbe biomed team and our USA colleagues, whether it be support for the portable X-ray unit, troubleshooting lab equipment, combating power compatibility issues, or training staff on the care and use of complex medical equipment. The results of these partnerships have produced Nigerian biomed technicians who are gaining knowledge and skills critical for sustainability. The training and mentorship for the care and maintenance of all the hospital medical equipment underscores a shared vision for healthcare improvements and patient support that we hold dearly.
We enjoy sharing about mission-minded organisations coming together with us to achieve a common goal because these partnerships enable efficiency and a broader understanding of possible solutions that result in great outcomes and the very best use of the funds you have generously given.
Will you consider a monthly donation to continue training staff and transforming the lives of patients? As the capability of the hospital increases, patients are coming from great distances to be treated and to hear the Gospel in this rural setting.
